Any gemstone that is softer than quartz, a 7 on the Mohs Scale, can be easily scratched by the quartz particles found in household dust. You can still choose a less durable option if you like for fashion or a not-everyday-wear ring, but keep in mind the extra level of care required when wearing softer stone rings.
