Every generation hears the same stories growing up: fairytales about fantastic journeys, magic, and true love. These stories inspire us to seek to experience this magic in our own life, and especially in our love lives. Though these stories are pure fantasy, there are elements that are true to life. Everyone can experience a touch of fantasy in their life, with a little inspiration.
There are many different types of fairytale-like weddings. Take, for example, the story of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Meeting and falling in love with Prince William while they were both attending the same university lead to her marrying her real life prince charming, and having a lavish Westminster Abbey wedding attended by a bevy of royals. A true Cinderella story!
Another famous “commoner meets royal” story is the story of how Hollywood royalty Grace Kelly met actual royalty Rainier III, Prince of Monaco. She met him while filming the classic Hitchcock film To Catch A Thief, which began a courtship. The Prince finally wooed her over after a year and they tied the knot with a stunning wedding at the Palace Throne Room of Monaco.
Not all fairy tale weddings have to involve actual princes, however. Take, for example, the incredible nuptials of fashion blogger Roshini Daswani and Raj Kewalram. The two had an ordinary meeting: they met at a university party and slowly fell in love. However, their absolutely stunning Indian wedding was anything but ordinary. This multi-day event had every element of a fairy tale wedding, with a middle eastern flair.

Not every fairy tale wedding needs to be as lavish as that of a real prince and princess. You can imbue your wedding with fairy tale flair with small elements, like tiaras, fairy lights, or even a signature fairytale-themed cocktail. The most important part of a fairytale wedding is that there is an inner magic in the bride and groom. True love is the center of the fairy tales we all grew up with— it’s the only thing you really need.
